New Sports Camp Helps Youth Stay Active

A brand-new sport camp is set to launch this February half-term, allowing young people across the county to take part in a range of different sports.

Multi-Sport-CampThe StreetSport Multi-Sport Camp is to be run at Countesthorpe Community College between Monday 17th and Friday 21st February and will provide participants the opportunity to participate in sports including football, basketball and cricket among many others.

Organised by Community Projects Plus and Blaby Parish Council, the StreetSport Multi-Sport Camp encourages young people to get involved in physical activity during the half-term afternoons, whilst everybody that signs up for the week-long camp will receive a FREE Nike football.

Jon Hunt, of Community Projects Plus, said:

“The Multi-Sport Camp promises to be a fantastic and fun opportunity for young people, and we’re looking forward to piloting this concept during the February half-term break. Whether it’s to participate in a sport that you’re familiar with or fancy trying a new sport, the focus on the Multi-Sport camp is to just encourage people from across the county to get active during half-term.

“This camp follows on from the hugely-successful sports sessions that we have run on Friday evenings. We’re hoping that our first-ever Multi-Sport Camp can continue to provide positive activities for young people across the region.”

Blaby District Council and Leicestershire County Council have all funded the StreetSport Multi-Sport Camp alongside Community Projects Plus, with proceeds from February’s camp contributing to the running of a second Multi-Sport Camp in the near future.

Places on the Multi-Sport Camp cost just £10 for the whole week, which includes a free Nike football for each participant.

Sessions will run from 2:00pm-4:00pm (8-13-year-olds) and 4:00pm-6:00pm (14+-years-old) and are open to people of all abilities.

In addition to the Multi-Sport Camp, free sessions will be held every day during the February half-term (Monday-Friday) between 10:00am and 11:30am in Northfield Park.
